These 40-foot units combine lithium-ion batteries, thermal management, and smart grid interfaces in weatherproof packages. A single unit can store 2-4 MWh - enough to power 10 km of tram lines during blackouts [9]. Hamburg's HVV recently installed 6 storage containers along their tram network.
